Benefits of Membership – OTA Member Services

OTA offers service to the members in the following areas:

  • Several committees covering a wide array of disciplines provide a forum for discussing issues of mutual concern.
  • The Association offers technical and professional training programs on a variety of subjects to members.  Additional topical training is offered on an as-needed basis.
  • The Association represents the industry on regulatory issues and in the Oregon Legislature during legislative sessions.
  • Information items are available to members and non-members through the Association office and this website. They include an Oregon Exchange Boundary Map, Membership Directory, and monthly e-Newsletter.
  • The Association also offers education scholarships to Association member families.
  • The Association provides opportunities to advertise in Association publications.

Committees Related to Business Operations

AccountingPurpose: To identify and analyze changes or regulations in the industry that affect the accounting functions, and to provide information to member companies in response to such developments.

Associate Member | Purpose: To coordinate and support associate member involvement in OTA activities.

Consumer Services & Marketing (CSM) | Purpose: To monitor and analyze the issues and needs of the industry in the area of consumer services, current and future customer needs and desires and the effective marketing of telecommunications services.  To provide for a broad range of training and professional development opportunities for member company personnel in these disciplines.

Central Office & Information Technologies (CO-IT) | Purpose: To identify, monitor and analyze the issues and needs of the industry in the area of central office maintenance and design and information technologies.  To provide an avenue for updating member company personnel on technical and engineering issues, and provide support for member companies present and future needs.

Outside Plant | Purpose: To identify, monitor and analyze the issues and needs of the industry in the area of outside plant maintenance and design; provide an avenue for updating member company personnel on changes in operations, engineering and technology.

Safety | Purpose: To solicit, identify, monitor and analyze the issues and needs of the industry in the area of employee safety and to provide an avenue for updating member company personnel on an ongoing basis.

Committees Related to Governmental Affairs

Legislative | Purpose: To solicit, identify, monitor and analyze legislative issue impacting the industry and to recommend appropriate legislative strategies for Board consideration.

Regulatory & Industry Relations | Purpose: To solicit, identify, monitor and analyze changes or additions to the regulatory environment affecting member companies and to develop and recommend appropriate strategies for Board consideration.

Committees Related to Association Services

Annual Meeting | Purpose: To plan and outline the theme, program and special events for the annual meeting.

Recognition | Purpose: To develop a program of member recognition for their contribution to the Association and/or the industry.

Small Company | Purpose: To provide a forum for the small company members with less than 50,000 access lines to discuss issues and to represent their interests in the activities of the Association.

Industry Support

OTA Scholarship Board of Directors | The OTA Scholarship Foundation was established to offer scholarships to employees and immediate families of OTA members to further their education in colleges, universities and trade schools. 

ITA Showcase | The OTA supports and provides access to the annual exhibition of Associate Member products and services in cooperation with Washington Independent Telephone Association (WITA) at the ITA Showcase trade show each year. Visit https://itashowcase.org/ for more information.
